Injinji Toe Socks

0
Wow , I have recently been given the best and most comfortable socks I’ve ever had . They are Injinji toesocks and I’ve worn them every day for a week – with a couple of washes I may add !

This morning I put on a pair of normal socks and I suddenly realised how confined my toes felt .It’s not something you usually think about and I’m sure I would never have given it a second thought if I hadn’t tried the Injinji toesocks

Injinji toesocks .
I’d noticed my friend walking around in them in her apartment when I visited her in Paris last month and I must admit that I had a bit of a laugh and thought that living in the French capital must have gone to her head ! However she told me that she’d actually bought them online from Freedom Footwear when she was still living in London and that she had pairs in different weights and different colours . ( I actually went and had a peek in her sock drawer when she went to work and it was true – there they were all lined up )
Back home in London in the chilly autumn I thought no more about them until I went to my yoga class and there was the most trendy one of our group not only wearing the toesocks but brightly coloured shoes with toes as well ! She said they were called vibram Five Fingers and the colour was chilli/peach . This seemed to me a good idea , as I’ve always done yoga barefoot , but have never really been comfortable walking around on the floor of the school hall in the evening , as I’m sure it’s not cleaned before our class .
Last week I had quite a big birthday and along with all my other pressies was a small package from Anna in France and as you may have guessed , inside was a pair of grey Injinji toesocks .
Intrigued , I tried them on and straightaway noticed how well they fitted the contours of my feet . They did feel a bit strange at first , though , and obviously didn’t go with my party frock that night, so I put them away for the weekend and actually forgot about them for a couple of days . However later that week I thought I’d wear them with trousers for work and found how great they were as they didn’t slip down and actually seemed to stop my shoes rubbing . I won’t go into all the technical information about how the socks are made but they are quite high tech and all the toes are seamless to prevent rubbing . That evening I kept the socks on and found out just how comfortable they are to walk around in without shoes – It’s great to allow my toes to spread naturally and as I said at the beginning I never realised how confining ordinary socks could be . So now I’m a converted toesocks wearer and who knows I may soon branch out and get a pair of the Five Finger shoes as well !

The Scarlett shoes: Johansson jogs into the barefoot running craze (Daily Mail)

Despite Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn an unlikely – and yet curiously well-suited – couple, all eyes were on the actress’s feet when the pair went jogging recently.

On a training session in sunny Malibu over the weekend, Scarlett was wearing pink glove-like slip-ons with sectioned toes.

The Vibram Fivefinger Bikila shoes are – despite their comic appearance – specially designed to prevent running injuries.

Vibram five fingers are in the news again, although this time not necessarily for their health benefits. Josh Duhamel was recently snapped wearing a pair of classics whilst out for a hike with wife Fergie.

How long does it take to adjust to Vibram Five Fingers?

4

If, like me you spent most of your life wearing ultra soft, cushoned running shoes then switching to Vibram Five Fingers can be a bit of a shock to the system. I wore my KSO’s all day, every day,  for 12 months whilst travelling and i can tell you that the fist couple of months were really hard work for my feet and legs. After my legs and feet had toughened up a bit i had no further problems.

Now if you’re planning on running you may find adjusting will take a bit longer and i’d definately recommend taking it easy for at least a couple of months to aviod any chance of injury. Start of slow by taking your Five Fingers out for walks to begin with and gradually increase the distance you cover. After a couple of weeks walking around try taking a short run and see how you get on, you may find that your calves ache a little afterwards, if so consider not wearing them the day after to recover and then continue taking gradually longer runs.
